Tour with the same wedding in mind

Before comparing venues, agree on an approximate guest count, preferred season, ceremony style and the three things that matter most to each of you. Use those same assumptions everywhere. It is the only fair way to compare spaces, packages and likely total cost.

Where possible, attend together. One person may notice atmosphere and styling possibilities while the other focuses on food, logistics or cost. Both perspectives matter, and both people should be able to imagine the day.

Walk the entire guest journey

Start where guests arrive. Follow the route to the ceremony, drinks, reception, bathrooms, parking and transport collection point. Consider distances, surfaces, signage, shade, shelter and accessibility.

A venue can be visually beautiful while still asking guests to negotiate awkward transitions. Good flow feels natural and needs little explanation.

Ask to see every weather option

Do not accept a vague assurance that there is a backup. Stand in the alternative ceremony space. Ask when the decision is made, who makes it, how suppliers are told and whether any extra cost applies.

Understand what is included

Ask for a clear explanation of venue access, coordination, catering, beverages, furniture, tableware, styling, entertainment, setup, pack-down and accommodation. Separate essential costs from optional upgrades and compare the likely whole-wedding total.
